Research has shown teams develop over time, for example through the four stages identified by Tuckman: forming, storming, norming and performing.

  boost consultancy delivers bespoke packages of team development to help organisations build, lead and develop their teams; helping them move to the performing stage quickly and efficiently.

  We recently delivered a bespoke package of team development for a newly-developed team working in a care setting.  “As a new manager this programme has been so useful in giving me the tools to understand how I can develop my team. There’s been a noticeable change in how the team works together and it has improved every aspect of our delivery. I’d thoroughly recommend this to other managers and team leaders!” says Davina Fuller, team leader.

  Davina’s team building package included six sessions designed to encourage the team to reflect on their working practices and to provide them with tools to make decisions, communicate effectively and understand each other’s perspectives. The programme included a Belbin assessment and 1:1 coaching for Davina.
  boost packages use a variety of theory (including Belbin), practical tools and team building activities, to motivate teams to become more effective and provide team leaders with the tools to continuously develop their team.

  boost is currently working with a young people’s theatre company based in Sussex, providing a monthly fundraising function.

  The theatre company, which is a registered charity, has sought boost’s help to produce winning funding applications and secure core funding to ensure their long-term sustainability. They create and tour professional education productions in schools and arts venues, encouraging young people to engage with the arts.

  “With vast changes in the funding landscape both within the arts and education sector, boost brings the knowledge and skills to enable us not only continue the work we do, but grow,” explains the producer of the company. “In short, it means I can carry on with my job rather than spend more than 50% of my time fundraising.”

  boost has already researched hundreds of potential funding bodies and shortlisted those that best suit the charity’s priorities to come up with a funding action plan. Bids will include applications to the Big Lottery Reaching Communities fund, Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

  Over the next three years, boost consultancy are managing a £1.6m project entitled ON2UP2, which is co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency and YPLA. It is delivered across the whole of Surrey and West Sussex through five delivery partners until 2014.

  In order to ensure ON2UP2 is successful our contract management team have implemented a range of communication tools to ensure the partners are able to share learning and best practice amongst the group. Some of these include monthly news bulletins, which update partners on progress and targets achieved, as well as stories of particular achievement for certain partners. We also have a boost partner portal online, so partners can access any information or paperwork in one place. Facilitating effective partnership meetings and training also play a key role in boosts’ management of the ON2UP2 partners, providing all an opportunity to share their experiences and seek further support and advice.

  As well as project managing the contract, boost were successful in securing the money through the excellent and highly skilled bid writing skills of the team, scoring 1000/1000 for the final bid.
