Raising money for those who need it

In 2011, we were commissioned to raise funds for a charity seeking funding to provide additional support to children and young people facing challenging learning and behavioural difficulties.

This Spring we were thrilled to hear our bid to the Big Lottery Reaching Communities fund had been successful, as without this money, children who desperately needed extra support would have gone without.

Project management

Winter 2011 sees the end of the Pathways to Progression (P2P) project, managed by boost consultancy since early 2010. P2P was funded by the London Development Agency (LDA) and delivered across London by four delivery partners: asphaleia training, Central Eltham Youth Project, Phoenix Community Care and Shaw Trust.

P2P has made a significant impact on the lives of numerous young people. 518 young people aged 14-19 were enrolled, all of whom were either NEET (not in education, employment or training) or at risk of NEET. Of these:

  • 477 (92%) of them completed a non-accredited positive activities programme to develop their confidence, self-esteem and prepare them for work
  • 336 (65%) completed either a Skills for Life qualification or a 30 hour work placement
  • 75 of those aged 14-16 re-engaged with school
  • 181 aged 16+ moved into a job
  • 152 (84%) of those who moved into a job were still in work after six months

A few of the many success stories include:

  • A 15 year old who had not been attending school for nearly a year, achieved a Skills for Life qualification and started the process of re-engaging with school
  • An 18 year old young offender gained work experience at a football coaching centre, which resulted in an offer of permanent employment
  • An unemployed 17 year old with no work experience but dreams of working in the fashion department of Harrods, gained work experience in New Look and TK Maxx
  • Five young people with no previous work experience moved into apprenticeships with Charlton Athletic
